Did anyone throughout history ever put down more thoughts, in print, than Aquinas?

Its an ongoing argument I'm having with a friend who claims that Homer and other Greeks did. That they were burned up in the Alexandrian fire. Of course he can't prove this, but is always quoting vague sources. Does anyone know of a source that I can refer to so as to shut him up?
