Opponents of Affirmative action argue that it is based on collectivism, counter production, and devalues accomplishment. They believe that it is based on collectivism because people whose application is well known qualified get denied simply because of their ethnic background. They also believe that Affirmative Action believe devalues accomplishments simply because of the social background they belong to rather than their qualification. Lastly, the opponent’s believe that affirmative action is contradicting because although it seeks to eliminate discrimination it also creates it by favoring those who aren’t qualified to those whoa re qualified. This is also known as reverse discrimination. For example, a university who has a majority of Caucasians, African Americans, and Latinos, and not many Asians, will consider on accepting an Asian’s applications rather than if another Latino’s because there is a majority of Latinos than Asians.
