How do i make this career work for me?
If you truly believe in your company's products then you need to work through your insecurities about selling Them. You really need to believe you can be successful or your career doesn't stand a chance. If you tell yourself your not good at networking and cold calling you won't be. Networking and generating referrals are core skills as a financial planner as well. The key to sales success is maintaining a positive attitude in the face of adversity and constantly finding ways to improve your selling skills. Get a book or CD by Brian Tracy, Zig Ziglar or Tom Hopkins. I especially love Tracy's stuff when I'm having a bad day. Good luck and congrats of the baby boy!
